Only fifteen of the Gull bookstands were originally produced before the Second World War halted production in 1939 due to shortages of plywood. Designed by Egon Riss to complement his Penguin Donkey 1939. The Gull is sculptural in design and organic in shape and the curves are reminiscent of a bird.
