Over time your Barbour will become a much loved item in your wardrobe. The distinctive matt finish and oily hand feel of Barbour’s Organic Sylkoil Waxed Cotton not only provides a layer of weatherproofing but also gives the garment its unique patina.

The below care instructions apply to our DB Trench, Stand Collar Parka and Transport Jacket Autumn Winter 2025 collaboration styles.

– Due to the nature of waxed finishing, always store your garment away from delicate fabrics to avoid the wax transferring.

– Do not wash or dry clean as this will strip the wax coating and your Barbour will no longer be weatherproof.

– Use a soft brush to remove excess dirt.

– Gently wipe away and remaining dust by using a soft sponge only using cold water and never soap or detergent.

– Carefully warming the garment with a hairdryer can help restore its surface finish. 

 – When wet, hang dry the garment, with collar turned up in a well vented area away from direct heat and sunlight.

– Over time the waxed finish will wear off. We recommend following Barbour’s instructions for re-waxing and repairing garments which can be found here. 

Barbour’s newly developed P140 Hybrid Aero Dry Wax Cotton offers a weatherproof performance in a lighter-weight breathable fabric with a drier waxed finish.

The below care instructions apply to our Bedale Gilet Autumn Winter 2025 collaboration style.

– Due to the nature of waxed finishing, always store your garment away from delicate fabrics to avoid the wax transferring.

– Hand wash only in non-bio soap, do not use a fabric softener. Please note that you may need to re-proof the garment to restore its water repellent quality.

– Do not dry clean.

– When wet, hang dry the garment, with collar turned up in a well vented area away from direct heat and sunlight.

 – Lightly iron if required. Do not steam.

 – Over time the waxed proofing will wear off. The fabric can be reproofed with a water based wax spray. Please contact our Customer Services for further information.
