THE MAKING OF A SHIRT

THE MAKING OF A SHIRT
FILMED AT UNIT 7, EDMONTON, LONDON

Margaret Howell has collaborated with filmmaker Emily Richardson on a short film capturing the process of shirtmaking at the company’s workroom in Edmonton, north London.

The film follows the making of a shirt from the ‘lay’ of cutting to finishing and checking. It captures the skill of the hand and the machine involved in constructing the numerous pattern pieces that are stitched together to make a Margaret Howell shirt.

The Unit 7 workroom produces a selection of Margaret Howell shirt styles each season. The shirts are individually made by each machinist.
