A GUIDE TO RURAL CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY
ARCA, Archive for Rural Contemporary Architecture, launches its second publication SLACKLANDS 2 by Corinna Dean. The guidebook navigates through Cold War relics and functional typologies, as well as the poetic and aesthetically daring structures that have left indelible marks on the global landscape. 32 illustrated examples of buildings take the viewer on a contemporary Grand Tour where obsolescence results from changing technologies, shifts in government policy and cross-currents of geo-politics.
The artist and illustrator Peter Nencini has been commissioned to interpret a selection of the buildings focusing on their material nature with a series of unique artworks to accompany each chapter section.
